Defence Planning & Scheduling — Canberra

Honest reads on hard programs.

Planning, scheduling and project controls for Defence. We tell you where your program actually stands — not where the slides say it does.

Compliant on paper. Off track in reality. We call it.

Most scheduling work stops at reporting. We work at the insight end. What does the schedule actually say? That is the question we answer.

WHAT WE DO

Specialist delivery.
No frills.

  • Independent assessment of your Integrated Master Schedule (IMS) against CASG and ODCS standards. Critical path integrity. Dependency analysis. Resource loading. We read what the schedule is actually saying and tell you plainly.

  • Embedded scheduling and project controls capability across acquisition lifecycle. IMS development and maintenance. Integrated Baseline Review (IBR) support. Reporting and governance forums. We do the work.

  • Strategic scheduling advice to Program Directors. Schedule integration across multiple projects. Independent confirmation that the facts are actually the facts — not what someone wants them to be.

We provide assurance that your schedule is deliverable, your baseline is defensible, and your reporting reflects reality. Below the line, we support Defence industry with targeted project controls uplift and ASDEFCON artefact development — so your contract deliverables to the Commonwealth are compliant and credible.

An honest view when it matters most.

THE PERSON BEHIND THE WORK

Who you are working with.

JONATHON MACLEAN

Founder — Modulus Solutions

Jonathon has spent the better part of two decades inside Defence and the programmes that define Australia's capability edge. He started in finance and commercial management — budget management, commercial procurement, FMS case management and financial tender evaluations across acquisition and sustainment programmes. From there he moved into risk and scheduling on the SEA5000 Hunter Class Frigate Program, then into project controls and the Air Domain, before moving into industry where he has delivered planning and scheduling capability across some of the most complex acquisition programmes in the country.

That breadth is deliberate. Finance gives you an understanding of where programmes actually bleed. Risk gives you the instinct to see what is coming. Scheduling gives you the truth. Jonathon brings all three to every engagement.

His programme experience spans both sides of the fence. Above the line: Planning and Scheduling Manager on SEA5000, Air Domain Project Controller inside Defence, and currently supporting AUKUS. Below the line: targeted project controls support to Defence industry, including ASDEFCON artefact development — Work Breakdown Structure, schedule and cost assurance — ensuring clients have compliant, defensible contract deliverables to the Commonwealth.

He knows this environment from the inside. The governance, the pressure, the gap between what the schedule shows and what is actually happening.

What sets him apart is the willingness to say it plainly. He knows when the numbers do not add up. He knows when a programme is compliant on paper and off track in reality. And he will tell you — even when that is not what anyone in the room wants to hear.

He does not run from the hard programmes. He thrives in them.
